This gut friendly green glow smoothie is the easiest and most convenient way to add in some fruit and vegetable servings, fiber and nutrients. This smoothie makes for the easiest breakfast or post workout snack and it’s not only refreshing but absolutely delicious and convenient to take with you on the go in a Yeti! This green smoothie is perfect for you if you’re looking for something quick and healthy for your family.

This is a picture of the gut friendly green glow smoothie with the ingredient used in the background.

Smoothies tend to be more popular in the spring and summer months when the weather is warmer and the fruits and vegetables used most often are in season. However, I personally feel like this green glow smoothie is a perfect nutrient dense breakfast that you can enjoy year round and its great for your microbiome!

This smoothie was inspired by my easy superfood smoothie recipe.

    Ingredients

This is a picture of the ingredients needed for the green glow smoothie.
    • Frozen Mango
    • Frozen or Fresh Kale
    • Frozen Strawberries
    • Fresh Turmeric
    • Spirulina Powder
    • Avocado
    • Lemon Juice
    • Date
    • Almond Milk (Vanilla, Unsweetened)

    • Unflavored Collagen Peptides

    See recipe card for quantities.

    Instructions

    1. Add all your ingredients into a high powered blender and blend on high for up to 1 minute until everything is well combined.

Hint: Make sure you drink this green glow smoothie immediately after blending for best results!

    Substitutions

    • Strawberries – You can substitute strawberries for frozen pineapples.
    • Almond Milk– You can use whatever milk you prefer for this recipe. Oat milk, coconut milk, or cow’s milk, just to name a few.
    • Collagen Peptides – You can substitute the collagen peptides for a scoop of vanilla protein of your choice.

This recipe is vegetarian and gluten-free. If you would like to make this recipe vegan, please substitute the collagen peptides for vegan vanilla protein powder.

    Variations

    • Chia Seeds/ Hemp Seeds: These can be optional if you don’t have any on hand. They provide some extra fiber and nutrients but are not 100% necessary for this smoothie.
    • Kid friendly – Your kiddos will absolutely love this recipe!

    Equipment

All you need to make this gut friendly green glow smoothie is a high speed blender.

    Storage

Once blended, this gut friendly green glow smoothie will not hold up very well if it sits out too long. As a result, I don’t recommend you refrigerate it for later consumption.

    Pro tip

This green glow smoothie can be prepared ahead of time in batches and stored in the freezer until you are ready to blend and serve it.

Here’s how: Add the frozen mango, kale, strawberries, turmeric, spirulina powder, avocado, date, chia seeds and hemp seeds and collagen peptides into a freezer bag or mason jar and place the bag into the freezer until you are ready to make it! When you are ready, all you need to do is add the lemon juice, almond milk and water (liquid) and blend!
